Rules & Regulations

  • Sophisticated Productions will disqualify any routines with explicit moves or that are not choreographed age appropriately, any routines with inappropriate lyrics or age inappropriate costumes. NO EXCEPTIONS WILL BE MADE!
  • Studios who received gift certificates in the 2022 dance competition season to be used in the 2023 dance competition season must deduct the gift certificates from your total entry fees before deducting any discounts or promotional offers.
  • Studios who received a gift certificate in the 2022 dance competition season can use them only in the 2023 dance competition season.
  • Studio owners who mailed in their deposit and are receiving a discount, discounts are only honored when you have mailed in your entry fees by the competition deadline date.
  • Studio discounts or promotional offers are per regional event and cannot be combined with multiple regional dance competitions.
  • Gift Certificates will not be accepted after the deadline date of any Regional or National dance competition you are registering for your studio.
  • Dancers who receive a Sophisticated Platinum award will receive a $25.00 gift certificate to be used towards a regional event in the 2024.
  • If there are five or more entries in a category, a category high score trophy will be awarded to the highest scoring routine in that category. The second and third highest scores will receive a certificate.
  • Solo and Duo/Trio entries will receive a Beautiful plaque. Small/Large Groups & Line/Production entries will receive a Large plaque for the Studio Owner and Dancers will receive a Beautiful Customized Pin!
  • Dancers can submit up to THREE solos per dance competition.
  • Dancers who compete with more than one solo, their highest scoring solo will be eligible for the overall title or runner-ups in their division.
  • Once schedules are sent out, NO routines will be moved unless it is due to a Religious commitment or School commitment. Studios are required to submit proof of these commitments to Sophisticated Productions.
  • All Studios are required to submit parent signature forms completely filled out. You may make a master sheet listing all your dancers with parent signatures. If Sophisticated Productions does not receive parent signature forms, dancers will not be allowed to compete.
  • Sophisticated Productions Dance Competitions are all scheduled as three day events. If we are able to hold an event all on one day we will hold the dance competition on Saturday of that weekend, unless we notify you otherwise. However, if the Dance Competition is a three day event we will schedule 13 & up Solos on Friday evening. Please feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns.
  • In Duo/Trio performances if there is a Sr. Competitive dancer the entire duo/trio performance must compete in the Sr. Competitive level.
  • Sophisticated Productions will ONLY ACCEPT MONEY ORDERS OR CERTIFIED BANK CHECKS. Please include studio name on all certified checks and money orders made payable to Sophisticated Productions.
  • Novice, Shining Star, Professional or Pre Pro entries and entries that are 25 years and older are not eligible for overall high scores.
  • Sophisticated Productions is not responsible for music, costumes, shoes, make-up, personal belongings etc. that are lost, stolen, or left behind.
  • Competitors must show good sportsmanship or your entry will be disqualified.
  • Sophisticated Productions has the right to use all overall title winners names and Dance Studio information in upcoming brochures and promotional advertisements.
  • Age for dancers is now as of January 1st, 2023.
  • Props may be used, but it is the responsibility of the Studio Owner or Parents of the studio to set up and remove them from the stage. Anything considered dangerous will not be allowed.
  • Sophisticated Productions programs will be sold at the door for $15.00 each.
  • Any late entries for the competition will be charged a $5.00 late fee per number for regionals and $10.00 late fee per number for Nationals. (Please see last page for deadline dates.)
  • Entry fees will not be refunded after 2 weeks prior to the event.
  • Competitors must be ready to perform 30 minutes before going on stage.
  • All studios will be notified approximately one week before the competition with times and schedule.
